Chevron Quilt Top

Today I finally finished my chevron quilt top. It has to be completed in time for my best friends birthday in July, so I really need to hurry up and start quilting. I think I am going to use Moda extra wide dottie quilt backing in either aqua or red. I just hope that she likes it! 

I also went to a few car boot sales this weekend and picked up some new to me items. My favourite has to be this bundle of fabric scraps from the 1950s to the 1970s. My personal favourite has to be the pink fabric with the turquoise houses or the painted dancers. The whole bundle cost me £2 which I think is a bit of a bargain. I just need to decide what I want to do with them. 

I also picked up this large JAJ pyrex casserole dish. I have never seen this particular pattern before and I can't seem to find much information about it online, do you know what it's called? 

And finally, my wonderful sister bought this stunning 1970s maxi dress for my Etsy shop. It is beautifully made and the colours are amazing, I tried it on in the hope that I might be able to keep it for myself but unfortunately it doesn't fit me. It will be listed just as soon as I find my missing tape measure!

My Crafty Corner

Today I finally finished my Minnie Vintage room with my very own desk. I purchased this 1970's dressing table from eBay for £30 and my lovely boyfriend went all the way to Doncaster to collect it for me. In honour of the occasion I have spent all evening working away at my quilt. I had a minor set back with said quilt when I discovered that my lovely boyfriend had accidentally thrown away the bag containing all of the pieces that I had cut and sewn together so I have had to start from scratch. It was a little heartbreaking but I have made good progress on the quilt mark two! Now all I need is some nice artwork for that bare white wall.

Recent finds

Here are some of my recent thrifty purchases. The clock is a brilliant retro style flip clock, it cost me £4 from a charity shop. When I bought it the day didn't flip over but after a rather fiddly half hour I managed to fix it. This will have a home in my Minnie Vintage room.

The red, yellow and blue vintage glasses, the 1950s multi-colored shot glasses and the cute cat figurine will all be going in to my Etsy shop.

The two vintage duvet covers were £2 each, I am saving them and eventually I want to make a quilt. My sister has recently starting quilting and has agreed to teach me, although I'm sure mine won't be as good as hers!

Today's finds

Today I had time to pop in to a couple of charity shops. I found this 1970's bikini set and matching kaftan, some girl's vintage sandals and a copy of Jack Kerouac's On The Road, which I have been wanting to read forever.
